Our Process

Here at Three Sisters Garden, we offer four varieties of dry beans, heirloom white field corn for milling, and a diverse list of summer and winter squashes, ensuring that the three sisters, our farm namesake, corn, beans and squash, are present on dining tables for as much of the year as possible.
In addition we offer an ever increasing array of summer vegetables, including peppers, tomatoes, melons and watermelons, onions, green garlic, herbs, sweet and and baby corns, seasonal salad greens, carrots and a constantly increasing variety of roots round out our offerings.
Milling our own corn and oats here on the farm, we can confidently say that we are Gluten Free!  Wheat has never, not once, been run through our mill.
We are a small, tight family at Three Sisters, most days just Jesus and me. Depending on each other, finding joy in the day to day, and digging deep, both figuratively and literally, to get the job done.  Our little postage stamp farm keeps us both busy, sometimes in over our heads, and we have to call in “the ladies” to help, but we hang tough working to bring uniquely delicious, clean, unique produce into Chicago.
Those ladies are mostly members of Jesus’ Family, and they can roll through weeding a bed of carrots like wildfire, chatting and laughing as they make their way from one end to the other.  Jesus and I often joke that when we give them one job, we had best know what is next for them, as it will not be long until they are back asking.  Truly, it is a great time for all of us when they are here.
