Tall Boy

Easily the tallest piece I have done so far. 14" tall x 4 inches at belly, 1 inch opening. I prefer pieces like this, even though it looks something like a decanter or pitcher, as a vase. The length and spout are created by the glass, getting it good and hot, and then letting it hang, or giving it a few swings to make the length. I know, the thought of letting molten glass swing freely is a lot to handle, mentally, but once you get the hang of it, knowing that glass at the right temperature will slowly extend, it is a beautiful part of the process to watch, as the neck and spout lengthen and take shape. The process creates a very rounded edge on the spout that is not particularly conducive to pouring. If you should use it for something like wine, be sure to have a napkin, as it will not pour so cleanly as to not have a drip or two.
